New England Equal Longest Victory Run Since Brady Years with Win Over Jets
First-year player Henderson has scored five TDs this season
New England equaled their longest winning run since the Brady era as they overcame AFC East rivals the Jets 27-14 in professional football
First-year standout Henderson led the way with three touchdowns as the New England squad notched an eighth consecutive victory for the initial occasion since iconic QB Tom Brady's final season with the franchise in the 2019 season
Signal-caller Drake Maye passed for 281 yards and a touchdown, connecting on 25 of 34 passes
The win increases the Patriots lead at the top of the AFC East as they improved to nine victories against two losses, with the Jets at the foot after dropping to two victories and eight defeats
The visitors had gone in front at Foxborough with quarterback Justin Fields scoring a short rushing score to cap the New York's initial series
But the New England answered in the second quarter as Henderson ran in two seven-yard touchdowns before the ball carrier grabbed a reception from Drake Maye at the back of the endzone midway through the third period to make it 21 to 7
"It was a key occasion for him rising to the challenge, and it's been fantastic for him to keep earning playing time," Maye commented on the rookie. "He desires to be great."
Justin Fields connected with John Metchie late in the third quarter to close the gap for the visitors but Andy Borregales booted a pair of field goals in the final period as the Patriots wrapped up the victory
